I shall not cry in fear tonight

I will not be afraid

As I cross the threshold in the dark

I need not be afraid

I shall not walk with my head down

Along the road tonight

I will stare dark in the eye

As I cross the threshold by and by

If I shall trip and collapse tonight

Up and out may my heart lead

I will walk tall ‘til my wounds heal

As I cross the threshold on these here paths of new

If brimstone swims in the wind tonight

I will hold my breath ‘til death

As I cross the threshold up ahead

I will not be afraid

If my back is up against the wall

And the water at my toes, with two coins in my palms

I will not surrender now, as long as I’m alive

As I cross the threshold here

I will not be afraid

If my loved ones cry on long and sleepless nights

I will not curse the sky in vain

As I cross the threshold with my faith

No I will not be afraid

And if the devil, who sits ashore

Extends his hand to mine

I will not let my tongue tie up

Bare skinned with this heavy heart

I will pray, knowing he will hear me sing
